Apparently they ship detainees from all over to here. Every prison needs an occupant and this ramp up of the government snatching people up is certainly helping to fill prison beds.56 yr old male, died at the North Lake Processing Center in Baldwin on Dec. 15. He’s the 32nd person to die in ICE custody this year, making it the deadliest year for detained immigrants since 2004, and fourth within four days. The federal agency says the man was found unresponsive on the floor of his cell.

People are being released from the ICE North Lake Detention Center in Baldwin into the cold with nothing but the clothes they are wearing. Some were flown there from as far away as Virginia and Washington, D.C. A group is arranging transportation from Baldwin to Chicago so they can fly home, and they provide each person with a winter coat and a backpack of basic supplies for their journey.
To help meet this need, which is both urgent and ongoing St. John’s Episcopal Church, Grand Haven, MI Immigrant Justice team is collecting essential items at the church to be delivered to Baldwin THIS Friday night DECEMBER 19. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE.

US threatens new ICC sanctions unless they pledge not to prosecute Trump. The shear audacity of that statement is just off the charts but it’s far from the first time the US empire or even the Trump admin has threatened the ICC.I had an argument with somebody earlier about this. He’s a patriot. You know the type. He assured me that Trump has never committed a war crime and he definitely believed that, but he is far, far from correct.
The Trump admin has committed numerous war crimes. As has every administration of my lifetime, but the last few weeks have been filled with extra-judicial killings left and right and straight up piracy when they hijacked an oil tanker from Venezuela the other day.
The’ve been blowing these boats out of the water with missile strikes that they claim are carrying drugs. There is zero evidence the boats are carrying drugs and a ton of evidence showing some of them were fisherman and others were delivery drivers that deliver legal goods such as supply and fuel, but nothing illicit.
Each of these, in general are war crimes. They are blowing non-military, non-combatants away with missile strikes. There is nothing acceptable about that, but there was one instance where they definetly committed a war crime.
The one I am talking about was the “double tap” and this is the one a few people have already really tried to distance themselves from. They blew up one of those boats. Continued to watch the spot after and seen that the people survived, and they went back a second time and missile strike the survivors. The literal example of an illegal order, that troops should absolutely defy, is that exact scenario. Firing upon a shipwreck. So much for the patriot’s argument that the Trump admin hasn’t committed any war crimes.
